Street Minds: Transport Impact Assessments

Exploring how Transport Impact Assessments can help build better streets
Street Minds
Start Date
Monday, November 13, 2017 - 17:30
End Date
Monday, November 13, 2017 - 19:30
Venue
75 Harrington Street (2nd floor)

Please join us for the next Street Minds gathering when we will discuss Transport Impact Assessments (TIAs) and the ways in which they shape our streets and our cities on an almost daily basis.

Some would say that the transport planning environment has changed radically over the past 5 years with a seemingly subtle change in terminology. TIAs have changed from being "Traffic Impact Assessments", primarily focused on private transport, to being "Transport Impact Assessments", where all the transport needs of a development and its users are considered. This change is relatively new and the impacts of this, more holistic, approach are yet to be seen.

We are fortunate to be lead in a discussion by Nuran Nordien (Head of Transport Planning at the Transport and Urban Development Authority, City of Cape Town) and Steve Sutcliffe (a transport consultant with a formidable reputation finding solutions to challenging transport situations). As per our usual format, Steve and Nuran will begin by saying a few words (and may make a short presentation) and this will be followed by an open discussion.

Please RSVP here, space is limited.
