As part of the #AtoBChallenge there will be an organised Walking Bus from the CBD. Here's what you need to know
Talking Streets in Mitchells Plain

A walking bus is a fun, healthy, safe and sustainable way of travelling to work or school. The group walks together on a set route, picking up or dropping off ‘passengers’ at specific ‘bus stops’ on their journey to and from work or school. According to Wikipedia the concept of the walking bus was first invented in Australia 1992 mainly to encourage physical activity by teaching children the skills to walk safely, how to identify routes to school and the benefits of walking. Walking buses are also used to raise awareness about the environment, crime, traffic congestion and help promote a healthy lifestyle.

On 25 February, we are inviting you to take up the #AtoBChallenge by joining our walking bus. Whether you are traveling by bus, train, mini bus taxi or walking, it will be an opportunity to travel safely from the Cape Town train station precinct to the Open Streets route and make some new friends along the way.

What do I need?

  • Wear brightly coloured clothes
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Sunscreen
  • Bottle of water
