One of Our New Year's resolutions is to get as many people as possible to use non-motorised and public transport to move around the city. With that in mind, we are extending an invitation to everyone coming to Open Streets Main Road to take part in the 2018 #AtoBChallenge. It’s open to all ages and gives residents of our city, their friends and families an opportunity to create, connect and share memories while experiencing different ways to move around.
To take part in the #AtoBChallenge, simply choose either non-motorised (bicycle, skateboard, rollerblades, walking) or public (minibus taxi, train or bus) transport to travel to Open Streets Main Road on 25 February. There will be an organised bike bus from the southern suburbs and a walking bus from Cape Town train station if you want to use those 'vehicles' to take part.
You will need to follow these steps:
- Take a picture of yourself commuting to Open Streets Main Road on the 25 Feb on your chosen mode of transport (a video is even better!)
- Post your picture on social media with the hashtag #AtoBChallenge and tag @OpenStreetsCT (Twitter) or @OpenStreetsCapeTown (Facebook, Instagram)
- Share your feedback when you get to Open Streets Main Road. We will be waiting for you with a little present at the Open Streets info booth opposite Aberdeen Park
Participants stand a chance of winning a brand-new bicycle as well as safety gear and MyCiTi myconnect cards.

The AtoB Challenge is part of our work to promote low carbon transport. This year, it will include a series of bike and walking buses. Stay tuned!
